Four numbers for every note
MIDI stores notes, not sound. For each note the converter writes these four values, and the inspector above shows them before you download.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser decodes and converts the file on this device and keeps it in memory while it works. If you allow analytics, we count anonymous events like “conversion completed”, never your file name, audio or notes.
Will the MIDI sound like my recording?
No. MIDI holds pitches, timing and velocity. Pick an instrument in your music app to hear the notes.
What does 120 BPM mean in the file?
Every MIDI file needs a tempo to store time. Download MIDI uses 120 BPM as a neutral timebase that keeps each note at the same second as in your recording. It is not your song's tempo. To get a file in your song's tempo and bars, use the free Line up with bars option after converting.
Why does a full song come out messy?
The converter writes down everything it hears, including drums, bass and vocals. It works best on one instrument. If you have a separate track for the part you want, convert that. More on full songs: Song to MIDI.
Is it free?
Yes, with no account, including bar-aligned MIDI. One file at a time, up to 200 MB and 10 minutes.
Where does the MIDI file go?
Your browser saves it like any other download, usually to your Downloads folder.
Can I paste a YouTube link?
No. The converter only works on files you choose from your device. Only convert recordings you have the right to use.
